Excellence in Education
This page is designed to showcase the diverse range of events and initiatives we offer at PS 155. We believe in providing a well-rounded educational experience that goes beyond the classroom.
Culturally Responsive & Sustaining Education (CRSE)
At P.S. 155 we embed culturally responsive teaching, honor students' home languages and experiences, and build equity-focused leadership and instruction.
Dual Language Program
We offer a bilingual learning environment (Spanish/English) for students to become biliterate and cross-culturally competent. Our comprehensive program runs from 3K through 5th grade, ensuring a consistent and enriching experience at every level.
The Rollercoaster Model
Kindergarten to 2nd Grade
Students alternate language immersion daily, beginning in English and concluding in Spanish one day, and flipping the order the next.
Balanced Weekly Immersion
3rd to 5th Grade
English instruction takes center stage on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while Tuesdays and Thursdays are dedicated to Spanish immersion.
Creativity Initiative ("Choose Creativity")
Our school promotes student-centered inquiry, project-based learning, design thinking, and creative expression in all content areas.
Choose Creativity's 8 Principles:
Chess Program
On Fridays during the spring semester, K-2 scholars engage in structured chess sessions for 16 weeks—fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, perseverance, and strategy.
Soccer Partnership
P.S. 155 has partnered with the New York City FC soccer league to provide free training to students, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
